Attending the ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue; Chairman of VNFU, Mr. Thao Xuan Sung; representatives of central and local ministries, agencies, branches and 62 typical " Scientists of Farmers" who have been honored in 2019.

At the opening speech, the VNFU Chairman, Mr. Thao Xuan Sung affirmed that: The Honoring Ceremony is an activity to express the appreciation and deep gratitude of VNFU and farmers to scientists who have made outstanding contributions in developing agriculture and new rural areas in 2019. At the same time, it helps promote the association between "6 stakeholders" (State, farmers, investors, banks, scientists, distributors) that the Prime Minister concluded at the first Prime Minister's Talk to farmers.

Among 62 honored "Scientist of the Farmer" in this year, there are 9 female delegates and 53 male delegates; the oldest is 80 years old, the youngest is 34 years old. There are 23 scientists with Doctorate of Science degree and Doctorate who has many contributions to agriculture and farmer's life. Typically, one of them is Prof. Dr. Vo Tong Xuan. He is a rice scientist and has made great contributions to the study of rice in the Mekong Delta as well as to the education sector in this region. Professor, Doctor of Science Vo Tong Xuan has received many national and international awards, especially the two prestigious titles of Vietnam, "Labor Hero" and "People's Teacher". 
 

Another typical face honored by the Program this year is Prof. Dr. Le Dinh Kha. He is the author and co-author of 35 national varieties and technical-applied varieties which there are particular varieties of natural acacia hybrid with State honored award, Eucalyptus hybrids, five ribbed cajeputs and oil-extracted cajeputs. Varieties of Acacia hybrid have been referred by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as the main crop in Vietnam and Southeast Asian countries also import from Vietnam for planting.
Engineer Ho Quang Cua – the “creator" of ST25 rice variety which has just winned the vote as "the world’s best rice". Engineer Ho Quang Cua and his associates have received a total of 7 Labor Medals, 2 Golden Rice Awards from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, as well as certified by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for their achievements. He was personally awarded the First-Class Labor Medal by the President and in 2012 was awarded the title of Labor Hero.
Especially among the 62 outstanding faces this year, there are 16 "amateur scientists" who are farmers owning patents and initiatives that are widely recognized and applied in the community, bringing practical benefits for the society. Typical examples  include: Mr. Pham Van Hat, born in 1972, in Ngoc Ky commune, Tu Ky district, Hai Duong province. Despite the 7^th graded educational level, Mr. Hat studied, summarized solutions and inventions of many products that are helpful for agriculture such as: basil harvesting machine, serving essential oil extract; fish mincing machine; automatic meat washer; automatic planting and seeding machines of forest plants. He continues researching and inventing a number of other agricultural machines, such as: lawn sowing and harvesting machines; pig manure cleaners; seeding rice production line ... Mr. Hat was awarded the Third-class Labor Medal by the President and received many certificates of merit and certificates from agencies, ministries and branches.
 
Mr. Nguyen Van Hai, born in 1967, residing at 66, 19/4 Street, Xuan An Ward, Phan Thiet City (Binh Thuan) started his business as a Honda mechanic, now has had more than 50 inventions helpful for agricultural production, typically including: 4-in-1 multi-function innovative solution for spraying pesticides, fire, water pumps and electricity generation; Multifunction machines (tillers, plows, harvesters and water pumps); Peanut plucking machine; Watering systems for fruit stems and tops; Multipurpose cutting mixer; Spraying machines to spray insects ... Many of his products have been highly promoted for their applicability, used by farmers. Many products won high prizes at the Technical Innovation Contest of Binh Thuan Province and the voted Certificate as Typical Rural Industrial Products of Binh Thuan Province.
 
On assessing the meaning of the second honoring ceremony “Scientist of Farmer in 2019”, VNFU First Vice Chairman, Head of the Program Organizing Committee, Mr. Luong Quoc Doan said: The title "Scientist of Farmer” is considered as a way to extend gratitude to honored scientists. Scientists have contributed their efforts to the practical life of agriculture, farmers, rural areas and related fields, contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.
Mr. Le Cong Thanh - Vice Chairman of Farmer's Union of Phu Lam Commune, Tan Phu District (Dong Nai province) with the invention of a vegetable seeder that has been widely developed to vegetable growers throughout the country shared: Being honored with the other scientists I was very excited because this is the encouragement for our contributions. I promise to continue to research and innovate to put new scientific applications into practical production.
Mr. Dinh Van Giang at Song Khoai commune - Quang Yen town (Quang Ninh province) specializes in the creation of projects for agriculture, most notably as the versatile food processing machine which has outstanding advantages and been used by many farmers. He excitedly said: It was my great honour to be respected in this program. I will strive and try my best to make many useful products to help farmers and enrich the home land.
