Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union: Science and technology transfer attracting more than 900,000 participants

(VNFU Portal)– For past time, the Youth Union have concerned about organizing training courses, imparting experiences and disseminating scientific and technical knowledge to young people who directly do business. 

 

Training activities are organized into intensive training courses or integrated in periodical training activities on youth union and adolescent and young adult movement. Training contents are designed in conformity with the localities and units and participants in training activities.
The training contents focus on providing knowledge, guidelines and policies of the Party and the State regarding economic development of collectives, cooperative groups and cooperatives; establishing youth cooperative groups and youth cooperatives; improving financial management capacity, direction capacity and approach to capital and new science and technology; acquiring basic knowledge about science and technology, biotechnology and applications of scientific advances to the business and production practices such as husbandry, cultivation, selection of new varieties, preservation and harvest …; and training and supporting small and medium-size enterprises for corporate governance, risk management, personnel management and legal management …
The Central Youth Union organized 18 training courses for 3,000 young people as members of the Board of Management, the Board of Directors and the Board of Supervisors, accountants and members in charge of professional tasks in the cooperatives and members of the cooperative groups; 45 conferences to train on transfer of scientific and technical advances to more than 5,000 Trade Union members who have economic development models; and 03 training programs for enterprises.
The provincial/ city Youth Unions have coordinated with functional departments in organizing intensive training workshops in each field or combining special subjects with the Youth Union’s learning contents.
During the period of 2012 – 2017, the provincial/ city Youth Unions organized 13,910 training courses on science and technology transfer which attracted 908,927 participants. The provincial/ city Young Entrepreneurs Associations organized 260 training courses for nearly 1,000 trainees as leaders and employees of the enterprises.
In general, the training activities of the Youth Union have brought useful and practical knowledge; supported its members and young people to access to new knowledge and apply scientific and technical advances to production and business; and helped the young people to approach to information technology and obtain knowledge and skills in economic activities. Thus, the training activities are actively concerned by the Youth Union’s members.
Supports for the young people in borrowing capital for economic development have been effectively deployed by the Youth Union with creative solutions. At present, the Youth Union’s outstanding loans through the Trust Program with Vietnam Bank for Social Policies are over VND 27,000 billion with 15 lending programs.
In addition, the Central Youth Union has managed a loan of VND 75 billion from the National Employment Fund (Program 120). From the management fund, the Central Youth Union has coordinated with relevant units in guides for lending and disbursement processes of 936 projects, including more than 500 projects for production and business units and creating new jobs for 2,658 workers as rural young people with average monthly income of VND 5,000,000 per capita.
This fund has made active contributions to integrating into the locality’s socio-economic development programs and considerable contributions to helping the young people create more jobs through disadvantageous young adult groups such as the disabled young adults; young adults in the ethnic minorities; young adults in the regions conversing agricultural land use; young adults after drug detoxification and young adults becoming the good …

Some provincial/ city Youth Unions in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, BinhDinh, Dong Thap and Ben Tre have established startup funds to implement startup programs for young adults who desire to develop their production, business and startup development.

There are many young adults starting up in agricultural areas. Mr. Phan Thanh Sang in Lam Dong Province has a passion for orchids since his childhood. To now, he has hybridized many types of beautiful and fragrant flowers and propagated many valuable and rare species of orchids in nature. YSA Orchid Company established by Mr. Phan Thanh Sang - Director is a positive factor of the pilot program for the first agro-tourism village model in Ho Xuan Huong Street, Da Lat, Lam Dong.
Mr. Vi Van Binh resides in Thai ethnic group in Chieng Ban Commune, Mai Son District, Son La Province. In 2011, after completing postgraduate course, he returned home for startup and established Son La Development Joint Stock Company specializing in Mushroom. The Company now has 3 mushroom farms in Chieng Mai Commune with total area of nearly 2 ha, creates jobs for 35 full-time workers and 10 part-time workers with monthly income of VND 3.8 million to VND 5.5 million/ person and a revenue of VND 4.9 billion (in 2017).
Later, he established Green Agriculture Cooperative 26-3 which directly produces safe vegetables with total area of 5 ha and distributes products to the consumers through the safe vegetables stalls in the key markets of Son La City, Muong La and Quynh Nhai. The Cooperative creates jobs for 50 young adults with its revenue of VND 5 billion and its profits of VND 2 billion.
As a Youth Union member in Tay ethnic group, Mr. Luong Dinh Hung residing in Nhu Co Commune, Cho Moi District, Bac Kan Province mobilized young adults in the locality to establish Nhu Co Youth Agricultural Cooperative with total annual revenue of more than VND 3 billion, creating jobs 15 full-time workers.
Mr. Tran Kim Viet was born in 1990 in a difficult family in Huong Long Commune, Huong Khe District, Ha Tinh Province but disabled due to Agent Orange. He always aspired to school and work to not become a burden of his family.
After his self-study, he bravely invested in Dóbầu (Aquilaria crassna) nursery and founded Viet Nursery Co., Ltd to provide domestic and foreign varieties and conduct science and technology transfer to the Youth Union members and local people with its area of 2 ha. The Company has 3 business establishments with investment capital of VND 1 billion, total revenue of over VND 3 billion/ year and profit of VND 600 million/ year. The Company has created jobs for 10 full-time workers (including 2 disabled workers).
