The model of collecting discarded packages of plant protection chemicals supported and implemented by Tra Vinh Farmers’ Union

This is the third year that the Tra Vinh provincial Farmers’ Union has implemented this program. Since 2018, the Provincial Farmers’ Union has been funded by the Central Committee of Vietnam Farmers’ Union to set up the pilot model of "Collecting discarded packages of plant protection chemicals and household waste in combination with propaganda on environmental protection" in Hoa Loi commune - Chau Thanh district. From the primary successes, the District Farmers’ Union has replicated the model.
 
In 2019, a model was implemented in Phuong Thanh commune, Cang Long district. In addition, with the support of Center for Rural Environment - Vietnam Farmers’ Union, the Provincial Farmers’ Union held a contest "Communal Propagator on environmental protection" in 10 communes of Chau Thanh district (2018) and 10 communes of Cang Long district (2019).
 
 
Standing Vice Chairman of Provincial Farmers’ Union Le Bich Chi said: In 2020, the provincial Farmers’ Union will implement the model in 3 communes: Thong Hoa, Tam Ngai and Hoa An communes of Cau Ke district, contributing to raising awareness and responsibility of people in protecting rural environment and public health.
