14:00 - 03/03/2023
On the afternoon of March 1, the VNFU delegation, led by Ms. Cao Xuan Thu Van, VNFU Vice Chairwoman, surveyed Vinh Loi Agricultural Cooperative in Vinh Loi commune, Thanh Tri district (Soc Trang). Ms. Pham Le Lam, Chairwoman of Soc Trang Province Farmers' Union , and members of the Soc Trang Province Farmers’ Union Standing Committee welcomed and worked with the delegation.
Vinh Loi Agricultural Cooperative was established in 2020 with 16 members. The production area is 97 ha, in which some high-quality rice varieties such as RVT, ST20, ST24, and ST25 were cultivated. Since its establishment, the Cooperative has tested the procedure of safe and organic rice production, 60 hectares of cultivating the ST25 rice variety, and rice products have been packaged and sold in the domestic market as well as exported. In addition, the Cooperative has also developed the models of crop cultivation, raising cattle, raising fish, etc.

After listening to the Cooperative's report on the operational efficiency, the application of technology in production and business, the participation in digital transformation, and the difficulties in production activities, the delegation members shared about the effectiveness of some production and business models in other localities, discussed the production procedure, and seeked markets for the product.

Ms. Cao Xuan Thu Van highly appreciated the efforts of Vinh Loi Agricultural Cooperative, inspite of  its small scale, it has OCOP certified products and also has many effective methods in linking products to market. However, in order to develop the Cooperative, it is necessary to actively learn from the experiences on management methods of other cooperatives that are operating effectively, as well as enhance services, apply many solutions, and enterprisingly pilot in farming and production. At the same time, the Cooperative should take advantage of support sources to improve the quality of activities, increase the number of members, and expand production area.

According to Ms. Pham Le Lam, at the end of 2022, the VNFU at central level launched the Center for displaying agricultural products, which creates opportunities for cooperatives to promote and seek markets for products. Therefore, along with ensuring product quality, cooperatives should develop trademarks and pay attention to product packaging. The VNFU at central and provincal levels are always ready to share the difficulties and support cooperatives in production and business activities.
