Launching the National Journalism Award on Agriculture, Farmers and Rural areas
(VNFU Portal) - On the morning of April 26, in Hanoi, under the direction of VNFU the Central Propaganda Department, the Vietnam Journalists Association, the Rural Today newspaper in collaboration with the Vietnam Agriculture and Rural Development Bank (Agribank) held the launching ceremony of "National Journalism Award on Agriculture, Farmers and Rural Vietnam" in 2023.

Attending and presiding over the launching ceremony were Comrade Bui Thi Thom, Vice Chairwomen of VNFU, leaders of departments and units: Central Propaganda Department; Vietnam Journalists Association; Agribank; members of the Steering Committee, the Organizing Committee, the Jury Council, representatives of farmers, cooperatives and central, local press agencies.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Comrade Bui Thi Thom, Vice Chairwomen of VNFU – Director of the Steering Committee of "National Journalism Award on Agriculture, Farmers and Rural Vietnam" in 2023 affirmed: Agriculture, farmers and rural areas are three factors with very important roles and positions in the national renovation, construction and defense, and a great force in socio-economic development.
According to Vice Chairwomen of VNFU -Bui Thi Thom: After nearly 15 years of implementing Resolution 26-NQ/TW dated August 5, 2008 of the 7th Central Conference, term X "on agriculture, farmers and rural areas, beside the great achievements, there are still difficulties and challenges that need to be addressed.
In that context, the 5th plenum of the 13th Central Committee issued Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW "on agriculture, farmers and rural areas by 2030, with a vision to 2045" with the overall goal of: Farmers and rural residents have an increasing level of material and spiritual life, mastering the process of agricultural and rural development. Agriculture develops quickly, sustainably and efficiently, firmly ensuring national food security, increasing production scale of agricultural products, ensuring ecological environment and adapting to climate change. The countryside is comprehensively developed, with a synchronous and modern socio-economic infrastructure, a reasonable economic structure and form of production organization, a safe, healthy living environment, rich in cultural identity…
"The organization of the National Press Prize for writing about "Vietnamese agriculture, farmers and rural areas" in 2023 is also to continue promoting propaganda and mobilizing officials, members and farmers to actively participate in agriculture, farmers and rural areas development in the spirit of the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress, especially Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW "on agriculture, farmers and rural areas to 2030, with a vision to 2045 ", making a practical and effective contribution to the implementation of the Resolution, contributing to the strengthening the voice and image of Vietnam's agriculture, farmers and rural areas in both national and international level. This is also identified as one of the important practical events to celebrate the 93rd anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Farmers' Association; 35th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development.
According to the Organization Committee, this Award will focus on the following main contents: Writing about the guidelines and policies of the Party and State on agriculture, farmers and rural areas; especially the opinions, goals, tasks and solutions stated in Resolution 19-NQ/TW and programs and action plans in Resolution 26/NQ-CP.
In which, the focus is: Enhancing the role, position, mastery capacity, comprehensively improving the material and spiritual life of farmers and rural residents; write about typical production and business models in agriculture, agricultural models associated with multi-value chain linkages, hi-tech agricultural models, application of modern technology, application of transformation number of stages from production to preliminary processing and processing.
Especially in this first launch, priority will be given to articles/works written on green, circular and organic agricultural development models that bring high practical efficiency in production, application and have the potential replication capacity; write about examples of typical, dynamic and creative farmers in the market mechanism; dare to think, dare to do, exploit and effectively use capital, labor and land resources; write about movements, organization and implementation in building a modern and civilized countryside.
Conditions for entries: Entries must be written on "Agriculture, farmers and rural areas in Vietnam", with priority given to the topic "Green agriculture, circular economy, associated with digital transformation" that accurately reflect objective reality. The categories of entries are reportage, autograph, reflection, and critical essay on agriculture, farmers and rural areas in Vietnam.
The Organizing Committee receives entries and works through two sources. Readers submit articles to be published in Dan Viet's Rural Newspaper/Dan Viet and submit written and printed journalistic works and published in various types of printed and electronic newspapers/magazines. Entries are submitted for the first time, have not been published in other newspapers and magazines, reflect objective facts, do not accept articles of a literary or fictitious nature. Subjects of competition: Open to all domestic and foreign professional and amateur authors.
The prize structure includes 01 First Prize worth 50 million VND, 02 Second prizes worth 30 million VND each; 03 Third prizes worth 20 million VND each; along with many consolation prizes, high-value sub-prizes. Time to receive entries: Starting from the launch date to the end of November 15, 2023.
It is expected that during the course of the Prize, the Organizing Committee will organize a number of field trips for the authors to participate in the recognition, reflection and participation of quality works.

According to journalist Luu Quang Dinh: During the period 2015-2019, Rural Today newspaper also held the National Press Award "Pride of Vietnamese Farmers" with the limitation of only posting about typical farmers. Inheriting that success, the National Journalism Award on agriculture, farmers and rural areas was expanded both in content and scope of requirements to the prize structure with higher value.
