VNFU is in collaboration with Netherlands to improve the life of farmers at drought and salinization areas
(VNFU Website) – Recently, a group of experts from Wageningen Plant Research, a member of Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP), and Netherlands Water and Food Consultancy has come to Vietnam in order to identify the possibility of designing new experimental plant model and technology that adapt to drought and salinization in the Mekong Delta.
After field surveys in Bac Lieu, Hau Giang and Long An, the group made a general assessment on the salinization situation happening to some kinds of plants and products, and technology and solution for adaption to salinization. From this basis, they are going to build a PPP network including researchs, designing new experimental plant model and technology adopting to drought and salinization.
These several survey trips are compatible with the proposal about drought and salinization in the Mekong Delta which was the result of the survey trips of VNFU and Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP), and Netherlands Water and Food Consultancy in 2016. This is a good ground to make detailed proposals in order to indentify solutions to improving life for farmers suffering from the situation.
