General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to meet delegates of “Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers in 30 years of Doi Moi”

At the audience, VNFU Chairman Lai Xuan Mon formally reported to General Secretary on significants activities of the program “Pride of Vietnamese Farmers in 30 years of Doi Moi” with the focus on the honoring and award ceremony for “Vietnamese Farmers in 30 years of Doi Moi”.
Also,delegates spoke their minds regarding their difficulties, obstacles and proposals, aspirations in agricultural production.
After hearing speechs and proposals of 5 farmers, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong highly appreciated, acknowledged, congratulated and honored outstanding achievements of all 87 farmers in the last 30 years of Doi Moi.
General Secretary affirmed that agriculture was the most important front with over 70% of population and 50% of labor force were farmers. From a poor country, Vietnam had become one of the top countries in exporting many agricultural products.
In addition, General Secretary also emphasized that as we should not be self-satisfied with those achievements, farmers had to gradually change their production mindsets in order to meet the export quality requirements for agricultural products.
General Secretary proposed that with the tradition of union and helping others, if conditions allowed, farmers should help poor people and homeless people so that everyone could have a better life; and also take part in education and training for the young, sharing experience with others in order for the country to develop more and more.
General Secretary expressed that all of the proposals and recommendations were very true and reasonable, thus the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) would acknowledge and soon introduce guidelines on policies, environment, export markets, etc.
Moreover, General Secretary also highly appreciated the role of VNFU in coming up with and organizing activities for exchanging experience among farmers, helping, encouraging and multiplying exemplary models, supporting poor farm-households.
With his sincerity and the fact that he also came from farming background, General Secretary really empathized with farmers and hoped that farmers would grow stronger, agriculture, farmers and rural areas would positively change more and more. Finally, he expressed his gratitude towards delegates attending the audience, wished them all great health and happiness, and also sent farmers in general his greetings, wished them the best in life and business so that the country would have a good ground to develop and become more prosperous.
Responding to General Secretary, VNFU Chairman Lai Xuan Mon wished him good health. On behalf of farmers across the country, VNFU and 87 outstanding farmers, Mon expressed his gratitude and acknowledgement of tasks assigned by General Secretary. The chairman was also honored to be able to continue to promote the tradition of union, dynamism, creativity and revolution of Vietnamese farmers; guide VNFU to reform its operation; take care and protect eligible rights, benefits of farmers.
