Honoring and rewarding the title of Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers of 2018:
Spreading excitement, giving farmers motivation

(VNFU Website) - In the evening of October 14, in Hanoi, on the occasion of the 88th anniversary of establishment of VNFU (October 14, 1930 – October 14, 2018) and to continue the success of Vietnamese Farmers’ Pride Programme, VNFU joined by Party’s Central Propaganda and Training Commission, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT) organized Ceremony for Honoring and Rewarding Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers of 2018 for 63 farmers representing 63 provinces, cities nationwide. The ceremony was broadcasted live on VTV – Vietnam Television Station.

Chairperson of National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and VNFU Chairman Thao Xuan Sung reward the title of “Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers of 2018” to farmers in the category of new-style rural construction and national security protection.

The ceremony was attended by Chairperson of Vietnamese National Assemby Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Head of Party’s Central Propaganda and Training Commission Truong Thi Mai, Head of Party’s Central Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh, Chairman of VNFU Thao Xuan Sung, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha and heads of other governmental bodies, local authorities, provincial and city FUs, together with 63 Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers representing provinces, cities all over the country.
During his opening remarks, VNFU Chairman Thao Xuan Sung informed that VNFU organized the 6th Ceremony for Honoring and Rewarding Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers as a part of a serie of activities celebrating VNFU’s 7th National Congress and 88th anniversary of establishment. It was an annual activity of VNFU aiming at honoring exemplary farmers who had significantly contributed to production, new-style rural construction and national security protection, he said.
In order to timely honor and encourage exemplary farmers, this year, VNFU in colloboration with Party’s Central Propaganda and Training Commission, MARD and MIT continued to organize the Programme of Vietnamese Farmers’ Pride and Ceremony for Honoring and Rewarding Outstanding Farmers. Taking place for the 6th time in a row, the event has been well responded by farmers and members all over the country. Honoring outstanding Vietnamese farmers is actually a way to honor all the hard work, talents, creativity of farmers who always give their best to develop agriculture, build new-style rural areas, empower Vietnamese so as to make a strong nation. Additionally, the ceremony is also expected to disseminate the potrait of “A new generation farmer” in the era of industrialization and modernization.
At the ceremony, delegates were informed briefly about 63 Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers of 2018. Among those 63 farmers, having largest production area (120 hectar) is farmer Nguyen Van Khanh (Dong Thap Province); generating most turnover (84 million dong per year) is farmer Phan Van Hoa (Nghe An Province); making most gross profit (4.5 billion dong per year over 4.8 million of turnover per year) is farmer Ta Van Minh (Tay Ninh Province); the oldest is farmer Ha Van Diet (1947, Tuyen Quang Province), etc. Moreover, 5 out of 63 Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers are female.
Mr. Ngo Van Tien, an Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer from Gia Lai Province, said that after 50 years in the business, being there that day to receive the title was an absolute honor to him and his family in particular, and his province, the society in general. It also encouraged farmers to keep producing well so that every single one of them would be rewarded the title, he added. Going back to his hometown, he would continue to support other farmers, especially ethnic minority ones, create more jobs and transfer advanced technologies to them, Tien stated.
At the event, heads of the Party, the National Assembly, the Government and VNFU rewarded the title of Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers of 2018 for farmers devided in 6 categories, as follows: Invention (8 persons), agricultural services and business (10 persons), aquaculture (10 persons), crop production (21 persons), animal husbandry, integrated farm (13 persons), new-style rural construction and national security protection (9 persons).
On this occasion, VNFU Chairman Thao Xuan Sung also gave orders of merit to sponsors of the program which were Binh Dien Fertilizer, JSC., Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank), Lam Thao Fertilizers and Chemicals, JSC., and PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals, JSC.
