According to Mrs. Lanh, there are more than 77,000 cashew growers with 31 cooperatives, 46 cooperative groups and cashew grower clubs in the province. The number of cashew growers accounts for 52% of the farmers in the province. Therefore, intensive cashew cultivation is the most urgent task of the province.
Under the support from VNFU, Binh Phuoc Provincial FU has implemented a project on building biological safety-driven microbiological model for improving cashew orchards in Tan Phuoc Commune (Dong Phu District). As they participate in the project, cashew growers are trained by agricultural specialists and scientists from soil preparation and garden redesigning to farming techniques like fertilization, pest control, harvesting, etc.
Particularly, the farm households engaging in the program are supported with seeds, fertilizers and microbiological products, directly guided through the crop cultivation and nursing during fundamental stage by the technical staff of the project. The fulltime staff will monitor and evaluate the growth and development of the crop of each specific model to improve the technical processes for farmers to apply them in the following years.
