Towards the development of new cooperatives and effective farmers’ professional branches

(VNFU Portal) – In the morning of 5th March, in Hanoi, four social political organizations including Vietnam Farmers’ Union, Vietnamese Women’s Union, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and Vietnam Cooperatives Alliance co-organized the Signing Ceremony of the Cooperation Program on developing civilized, modern rural society, new cooperatives and farmers’ professional branches in term of 2020-2025.

Attending the signing ceremony were the following comrades: Member of the Party Central Committee Thao Xuan Sung - Chairman of Vietnam Farmers’ Union (VNFU); Member of the Party Central Committee Nguyen Thi Thu Ha - Chairman of Vietnam Women's Union; Alternate member of the Party Central Committee Le Quoc Phong- First Secretary of Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Bao - Chairman of Vietnam Cooperatives Alliance.
Also attending the signing ceremony were the First Vice Chairman of VNFU, Mr. Luong Quoc Doan; and the Vice Chairmans: Pham Tien Nam and Nguyen Xuan Dinh; representative leaders of the Party's Committees, representative leaders from Departments, units under member organizations of Vietnamese Fatherland Front as well as related parties.
At the ceremony, Chairman of VNFU, Mr. Thao Xuan Sung affirmed: The goal of building 15,000 effective agricultural cooperatives set by the Government is completely appropriate. In recent years, in many localities, the Farmers’ Unions at all levels have always actively coordinated with the local authorities, departments and branches to carry out propaganda very well, which help to raise the awareness and capacitys of FU officials and members, farmers. The movement of focusing investment and development on OCOP models in provinces and cities has taken place extremely vigorously and achieved remarkable results.
The signing of a cooperation program among 4 organizations aims to build 18 models in 6 strategic regions; in which, there are both areas with deficient conditions and not with deficient conditions, areas with ethnic minorities ...


“On the basis of the cooperation program, I believe that all the signing parties will pay attention to directing and implementing well the signed contents so as to fulfill the responsibilities for the sake of members of each organization; heading towards the goal of developing prosperous agriculture - wealthy farmers - modern and civilized rural areas ”, emphasized by VNFU Chairman. 

Speaking at the Conference, Chairman of Vietnam Women's Union Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha gave compliments to Vietnam Farmers’ Union for its achievements over the past few years. The signing of the coordination program is an opportunity for the organizations to jointly implement the development of pilot models with association in production and business. Since then, it will help to take care for better lives of every officials and member at the grassroots level of every organization.
Chairman of Vietnam Cooperatives Alliance Nguyen Ngoc Bao proposed: Regarding the methods, it is necessary to select specific models; set out progress on implementation; make regular reviews and assessment so as to further propagate and replicate models. In the short term, each organization should assign a group of experts to assist to implement the cooperation program in continuous and timely manners. Besides, the units also need to pay attention to the monitoring, evaluation, preliminary reviews and summarization; coordinate closely with local authorities to mobilize the maximum level of resources...

First Secretary of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Mr. Le Quoc Phong also expressed and affirmed a strong agreement with the close cooperation between the four organizations. Through implemented models, the four organizations will assess the situation, discuss and give recommendations to the higher level leaders to review and revise policies accordingly.
 At the conference, the leaders of the four organizations reached a consensus to signed the cooperation program for the period of 2020 - 2025.

By the end of 2019, Farmers’ Unions at all levels have established 14,818 professional groups with participation of 174,697 members;  693 professional branches with 24,573 members.
