Recipes for feeding shrimp with black carp in the same “house”
With an area of 11 ha, billionaire farmer Tran Thanh Nam has intercropped vannamei shrimp and black carp.
In the process of developing the model, Mr. Nam affirmed: "When intercropping with vannamei and black carp, they will support each other to grow well, minimize diseases and make the environment. When the shrimp suffers from diseases, the fish will kill the diseased ones, so the disease cannot spread widely ".

Besides, the leftovers of shrimp and waste will also be cleaned by carp to help ensure the water environment. Moreover, floating fishes such as carp... during swimming will create a natural source of oxygen in the water, helping shrimp eat on the bottom grow better.
"Since the shrimp shares the same house with black carp, we no longer worry about shrimp and fish disease as much as before and we have never failed" emphasized Mr. Nam.
Previously, Vice-Chairwoman Bui Thi Thom and VNFU Delegation had a meeting with the Nam Dinh FU to learn about the situation of farmers, FU actitvies and farmer movement in the local area.

Since the beginning of the year, all levels of Nam Dinh FU have focused on fulfilling 06 key tasks to support farmer members in thier production and business.
Specifically, FUs organized a campaign to propagate and mobilize 254,305 households (60% of farmers' households) to register to achieve the title of good business and production. The movement continues to develop, many typical farmers' examples appear in production, business, creativity, daring to think, do and boldly apply scientific and technological advances into their production and business.
In order to support farmer members in difficult circumstances, in the first 6 months of 2020, the FUs launched to build 11 gratitude houses for these vulnerable farmers.
Farmers enthusiastically participate in the building of new rural areas
A highlight of FU activities and farmer movements in Nam Dinh is that FUs at all levels have actively propagandized and mobilized farmer members to participate in building a sustainable new countryside and a model new countryside.
To present, there are 209/209 Union establishments, 2,529/3,170 Union Branches register for specific jobs, taking part in environmental protection and climate change adaptation. The model of "Collecting, classifying and treating organic waste into fertilizer at home"; “collecting plant protection drug packages; "model garden" ... are some typical examples.
Furthermore, in the first half of 2020, the FUs established 04 new cooperatives. The whole province now has 04 cooperatived and 92 cooperative groups with 1,328 members.
Remarkably, the FUs actively mobilized farmer members to collect and accumulate land in association with enterprises to form more than 30 new linkage chained-based production models with high economic efficiency.
In addition to the achieved results, the implementation of a number of emulation targets in the period faces many difficulties such as building a cooperative group; linkage model for producing safe food agricultural products, etc.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Hung Manh - Chairman of Nam Dinh FU proposed VNFU to keep paying attention to investing resources to build models, projects, especially the model of hi-tech agriculture and organic agriculture along with the value chain.
Vice Chairwoman Bui Thi Thom affirmed that the FUs have actively propagated and mobilized officials and farmer members to participate in collective economic forms, coordinated with enterprises to build value chain- based- linking production model in combination wtih processing, storage and trading of agricultural products, improving income for farmer members.
