This women started with many kinds of fungus 15 years ago, Ms Le Ha Mong Ngoc – The Director of Nam Viet biotechnology joint stock company (Phu Binh hamlet, Phu Hoa Dong commune, Cu Chi district, HCM city) associated with farmers who plant red lingzhi mushroom to realize her enrichment dream from sustainable agriculture.
“Panacea” made in Viet Nam
Ms. Ngoc said that “the trend of using lingzhi mushroom of Korea, Japan, China for protection and prevention of sickness increased sharly in 2000s. At that time, lingzhi mushroom price was highest than ever, bringing very high benefits for foreign companies”, this was a big desire for people who do business like Ms. Ngoc. She said “As studying results, Viet Nam also had suitable and good natural conditions for lingzhi mushroom such as land, soil". She had several domestic factories producing successfully lingzhi mushroom whose price was very lower than imported lingzhi fungus”
Thinking to do, at first, she bought seedlings of University of Science and Nature (National University in HCM city) to do testing plant and then hope to realize her dream of having “Panacea” lingzhi “made in Viet Nam”.
“Planting lingzhi fungus was not difficult but we must well understand them. For example, lingzhi mushroom hated moving during their development, so we must keep them stable from planting to harvest, especially kept them far away from pesticides such as insecticides, herbicide, fungicide” Ms. Ngoc said.
In Ngoc’s opinion, lingzhi quality mainly depends on 3 factors: seedlings, harvest time and post-harvest processing, lingzhi selling. Whereby, when lingzhi mushroom get mature enough, it will produce mushroom spores which including valuable ingredients, helping to shape lingzhi value. Yet, if post-harvest processing such as drying is not assured, lingzhi quality will decline so much.
At that time, there were many sources of seedlings on the market which primarily hybridizing from imported seedlings of Korea, Japan, China but their quality and origin was unstable and tough to control.
With the resolution of creating clean and valuable product chain from inputs to ouputs, Ms. Ngoc made a resolution to produce lingzhi mushroom embryos. With the help of The nursery center of high tech agricultural business (high tech agricultural zone in HCM city), she invested a nursery garden of mushroom embryos.
Ngoc smiled and said that: “good mushroom embryos would make productivity and quality of lingzhi mushroom ensured, Nam Viet company would realize its plan of exporting lingzhi instead of import as before. Therefore, I felt cheerful when I had invested nursery garden”.
