A colorful, lively picture of agriculture, farmers and rural areas
Message to 15 million farming households
In two days, 29-30 August, VNFU in collaboration with Khanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee and Binh Dien Fertilizer JSC organized Farmers’ Competition Region III with the theme set to be “Vietnamese farmers: Solidarity - Creativity - Integration - Development”.
Participating the competition, there were 16 teams from 16 provinces and cities of Central-Central Highlands region and some provinces of South East region. VNFU Vice Chairwoman, Nguyen Hong Ly, addressed that the competition was a major activity of VNFU which took place every 5 years. It had made good impressions, attracted participation of many farmer-members. It was also a playground for farmers to gain experience, express their talent, understanding and honor the image of dynamic and creative farmers.
According to the Organizing Committee, through the content, the target of the competition is to send a message to 15 million farming households all over the country which is sustainable agricultural development will help farmers improve income, prosperous farmers are the foundation for the sustainable development of new–type rural areas, and also the solution to difficulties in health, education, culture, labor, jobs and social security in rural areas.
Several great and possible ideas
In the Farmers’ Greeting round, each team introduced their local cultural features, tourist attractions and signature products. Phu Yen was the first team to compete, they presented their local strengths such as tuna, hybrid corn, fishery, etc. Ninh Thuan team introduced sweet grapes, fresh apples, aloe vera, goat, sheep, etc.
In the Farmers’ Idea round, the host – Khanh Hoa Team – brought on stage the idea of “composting waste to make organic fertilizer”. It was considered unique, possible and rated highly by the judges. In the Who’s the better round, by correctly answering all 8 multiple choice questions, Khanh Hoa team got themselves perfect score.
The competition had left strong impressions on audiences and viewers. Through 5 rounds, farmer-competitors had shown everyone a colorful picture of agriculture, farmers and rural areas.
