VNFU Chairman Thao Xuan Sung meets AsiaDHRRA Secretary General: Bringing market information to farmers

(VNFU Website) – On March 2, in Hanoi, Member of Party Central Committee and Chairman of VNFU Central Executive Committee, Thao Xuan Sung had a working session with a delegation of The Asian Partnership for the Development of Human Resources in Rural Asia (AsiaDHRRA) led by Ms. Marlene Ramirez, Secretary General, coming to congratulate the new chairman and exchange words about the cooperation of the two associations.

Speaking at the session, Ms. Marlene Ramirez introduced the organization, functions, activities of AsiaDHRRA and the 20-year cooperation of the two associations to the Chairman. She also shared the upcoming plan for the development of human resources in rural area; capacity enhancement in policy and resource advocacy for farmers’ organizations to provide better services to farmers, help them develop their production, business and market access in order to increase income.

According to Ms. Marlene Ramirez, VNFU is like the bridge between farmers and Government in development support. She hoped the two parties would continue to cooperate in the development of rural human resources, policy advocacy and forum establishment to help farmers adapt to climate change and access to markets.
 
Chairman Thao Xuan Sung felt honored to receive the congratulations from the delegation, he also expressed his gratitude towards leaders of AsiaDHRRA for effective projects in Vietnam. The Chairman shared his interest in the quality of rural human resources which he believed a crucial element to the development. He suggested to Ms. Ramirez a close cooperative especially focus on development rural human resources between the two parties to gradually improve the life of farmers.
 
According to the Chairman, the biggest difficulty that farmers currently have to deal with is lack of information. He shared that even though Vietnam owned many production models generating billions per ha in revenue, the thing was that products needed exporting widely. The Chairman asked AsiaDHRRA to continue to provide information about development model of Asian rural human resources so that Vietnam could learn precious lessons from it and approach success soon. Besides, he also agreed with Ms. Ramirez to collaborate with relevant authorities and bodies of Vietnam to set up a forum to periodically provide information on agriculture, market needs of countries, regions, by which it would help farmers identify their own business development plans towards commodity production and hi-tech application.
