Cooperation in capacity enhancement for VNFU staff in support for cooperative group and cooperative

(VNFU Website) – On March 26, VNFU First Vice Chairman Leu Vu Dieu had a working session with a delegation of Collectif Stratégies Alimentaires (CSA) and Asian Farmers’ Association for Sustainable Rural Development (AFA) led by Mr. Marek Poznanski, Director of CSA.

During the session, both parties discussed cooperation content. In the next phase, CSA would continue to support VNFU in making project proposal for capacity enhancement for VNFU staff in developing cooperative groups, cooperatives, value chains, etc.
 
On behalf of leadership of VNFU, First Vice Chairman Leu Vu Dieu highly appreciated the results of the projects for Vietnamese farmers funded by CSA in the recent years. He also emphasized that the target of Vietnam Government in general and of VNFU in particular in the future was to improve capacity for cooperative’s administrators, members of cooperative groups and cooperatives to help them understand the importance as well as the benefits of joining cooperative so as to develop and expand new style cooperative models.
 
On the other hand, Mr. Marek Poznanski firmly stated that in 2018 the two organizations would work together on seeking markets for products and advocating policies on product certification to sustain products certified. At the same time, he also expressed the desire to work out cooperation content between the two parties in the political document of the 7th National Congress of VNFU so that the project could be carried out on a large scale and maximize the benefits of farmers.
 
As part of the session, Mr. Marek Poznanski conveyed his congratulations to the New Chairman of Central Executive Committee of VNFU, Thao Xuan Sung.

In the period of 2012-2014, CSA provided budget for VNFU to undertake the project entitled “Supporting the Development of Collective Economic Forms in Agriculture”. During the time from 2015 to 2018, CSA supported VNFU in the project on “Engaging Cooperative Groups And Cooperatives in Markets and Value Chain” for 6 cooperatives and cooperative groups in Long An and Quang Ninh Province.
