Vietnam Farmers’ Union (VNFU) and International Labour Organization (ILO): to support farmer members with capacity improvement

In the morning of February 26, 2020, in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dinh, VNFU Vice-Chairman had a working session with representatives of ILO.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dinh introduced to the delegation about the situation of agriculture, farmers, rural areas and activities of VNFU. He informed that VNFU was a socio-political organization with 4 levels from the central to grassroots levels.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuan, Chairwoman of Sector Skills Council of Agriculture said that Sector Skills Council of Agriculture had been established under a Decision of the Minister of Labor, Invalids & Social Affairs. It consists of 21 members who were representatives from partners.

Mr. Paul John Comyn, Senior Expert of ILO also informed that the Sector Skills Council of Agriculture was a new model with its goals to improve the coordination, sharing information with each other and be willing to work with FU to help good farmers with vocational pedagogy certificates.
 
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dinh, VNFU Vice - Chairman desired that the Council would support VNFU with a project on vocational training for farmers in the coming time. At the same time, VNFU would cooperate closely with the Council in order to promote the right functions and tasks in training farmers better.
