VNFU Chairman Luong Quoc Doan Elected to the 16th National Assembly for the Term 2026–2031

On March 21, the National Election Council officially announced the list of 500 deputies elected to the 16th National Assembly for the 2026–2031 term. Among them, Mr. Luong Quoc Doan, a member of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union (VNFU), was elected as a National Assembly deputy representing Constituency No. 02 in An Giang Province.

Mr. Luong Quoc Doan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and VNFU Chairman, was born in 1970. He is originally from Vu Quy Commune, Hung Yen Province (formerly Vu An Commune, Kien Xuong District, Thai Binh Province). He holds an advanced degree in political theory, a Bachelor of Laws, and has English proficiency at Level C.

Prior to his election to the 16th National Assembly, Mr. Luong Quoc Doan served as a deputy of the 15th National Assembly for the term 2021–2026.

Mr. Luong Quoc Doan was nominated by the Politburo and the Central Committee of the VNFU, and was included in the list of candidates for the 16th National Assembly following consultation rounds by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. He ran for election in Constituency No. 02 in An Giang Province.

In his action program, Mr. Luong Quoc Doan pledged to always place farmers at the center of parliamentary activities. He affirmed his commitment to maintaining close ties with voters, actively listening to their opinions, aspirations, and concerns, and faithfully conveying these to the National Assembly. He also emphasized proactive coordination with ministries, sectors, and relevant authorities to propose solutions and respond to voters’ recommendations.

He further committed to fully fulfilling the responsibilities of a National Assembly deputy in law-making, oversight of state agencies, and decision-making on major national issues, particularly those related to agriculture, rural development, and the legitimate rights and interests of farmers.

In particular, in his capacity as Chairman of VNFU, Mr. Luong Quoc Doan emphasized his role in representing the farming community in social oversight and policy critique. He also highlighted the importance of promoting farmers’ central role in building new rural areas, contributing to national development, and participating in Party and State building, as well as in efforts to combat corruption, wastefulness, and negative practices.

He also emphasized the importance of strengthening local engagement and maintaining close and regular contact with voters, as well as with local Party committees and authorities. He stressed the need to gain a thorough understanding of the current situation of agriculture, farmers, and rural areas, including shortcomings in existing policies, in order to propose to the Party, the National Assembly, and the Government appropriate mechanisms and policies to enhance support for farmers and promote practical and effective investment in agricultural and rural development, thereby helping farmers expand production, improve market access for agricultural products and increase incomes.

In his position, Mr. Luong Quoc Doan will continue to advise and propose policies to advance agricultural and rural economic development, ensure social protection in rural areas, and contribute to the formulation of practical and context-appropriate policies, particularly those related to agriculture, farmers, and rural development.
