Vietnam Farmers’ Union organizes training on the application of artificial intelligence and e-commerce for farmer members

From November 27 to 28, 2025, the Project Management Board of the Asia–Pacific Farmers Programme (APFP) and the project “Advancing resilience of farming households before impacts of the COVID-19 Epidemic ” (ARISE) under Vietnam Farmers’ Union organized a training course “Application of Artificial Intelligence and E-commerce” for farmer members in Hanoi.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phan, Member of the Standing Committee of Vietnam Farmers’ Union, Director of Farmers’ Affairs Department, Vietnam Fatherland Front delivered the opening speech

The training course was conducted within the framework of the Asia–Pacific Farmers Programme (APFP) and the project “Advancing resilience of farming households before impacts of the COVID-19 Epidemic ” (ARISE). The event was attended by 50 delegates, including officers of Farmers’ Unions at  levels and representatives of cooperatives from five provinces and cities: Hai Phong, Tuyen Quang, Ninh Binh, Quang Tri, and Gia Lai.

 

Speaking at the opening, Nguyen Van Phan, Member of the Standing Committee of Vietnam Farmers' Union, Director of Farmers’ Affairs Department emphasized that agriculture continued to be a pillar of economy in new development context. Vietnam Farmers’ Union played a core role in farmers’ movement and new rural development. Before the rapid development of artificial intelligence and e-commerce, agricultural production had to be innovative. Therefore, artificial intelligence and e-commerce opened new opportunities for farmers who got access to the markets, optimized production, and promoted products, contributed  trade promotion, increased incomes, and sustainable development.

The training course helped members of cooperatives and cooperative groups enhance their capacity to got access and applied artificial intelligence. Participants had in-depth guide, hands-on guidance on developing sales skills, and promoting products on e-commerce platforms. This contributed to stabilize market outlets, increasing incomes, and improving livelihoods. In addition, trainees were equipped with knowledge on online sales policies, data security, and ensuring safety in cyberspace.
