Lượt xem: 5
Implementing the policy of the Central Vietnam Farmers’ Union on promoting the building of professional Farmers’ Branches and Groups in the spirit of Resolution No. 04-NQ/HNDTW dated August 5, 2019 of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union (7th tenure), in recent years, all levels of the Farmers’ Union in Lam Dong province have actively implemented many organizational models suitable to the practical production and business conditions of farmers. One of the typical models is the “Cooperative Farmers’ Branch for Prosperity”, operating effectively, contributing to promoting high-tech agricultural production, increasing income for members, and spreading the spirit of linkage and cooperation in agricultural economic development.

Formed from the practical demand of high-tech agricultural development

Lam Dong is a locality with strengths in developing high-tech agriculture and smart agriculture with many modern production models and high economic value. In that context, building professional Farmers’ Branch models to gather farmers of the same profession and the same orientation of production along value chains is considered an appropriate direction, helping to promote the effectiveness of resources of farmer members.

Implementing Action Program No. 25-CTr/HNDT dated April 1, 2020 of the Standing Committee of the Lam Dong Provincial Farmers’ Union on implementing Resolution No. 04-NQ/HNDTW, the Cooperative Farmers’ Branch for Prosperity (also known as the Cooperative Farmers’ Club for Prosperity) was established and launched on April 7, 2021 with 16 members, under the Farmers’ Union of Da Lat city (former). Currently, the Branch operates under the direct direction of the Standing Committee of the Lam Dong Provincial Farmers’ Union.

Right from its establishment, the Branch has developed operating regulations, programs and specific development plans, identifying the goal of gathering typical farmers with experience in agricultural production and business, sharing experiences and supporting each other in economic development, especially in applying science and technology and building agricultural value chains.

A special feature of the Branch is that 100% of members are leaders of agricultural cooperatives, holding positions as Chairpersons of Boards of Directors or Directors of cooperatives in the province. Thanks to that, the Branch is both a place connecting excellent farmers and a bridge to promote the development of the collective economy in agriculture.

Linkage and cooperation – a driving force for modern agricultural development

After more than 4 years of operation, the Cooperative Farmers’ Branch for Prosperity has affirmed its effectiveness through many outstanding results in agricultural production and business.

Members of the Branch have unified the orientation of agricultural production according to organic, safe standards and applying high technology, from production, harvesting to processing, packaging and product consumption. As a result, many member cooperatives have built stable production–consumption chains, signing contracts with enterprises and supermarket systems before production is implemented.

Some typical cooperatives include Tan Tien Cooperative, Hien Thi Cooperative, Lien Hang Cooperative, Da Thien Cooperative, Ta Nung Cooperative… which have maintained stable markets with many large partners. Dalat Home Garden Cooperative builds OCOP product chains; Huynh Gia Cooperative and Thuan Phat Cooperative develop processing factories for dried vegetables and artichoke tea; Viet Hydroponics Cooperative pioneers in building smart farm models with production management software systems; An Thuy High-Tech Cooperative invests in laboratories and modern nurseries to produce high-quality seedlings; Hung Thinh Cooperative supplies imported flower varieties from the Netherlands; Mang-Lin Cooperative develops agricultural tourism models associated with production.

Thanks to the application of science and technology and production organization along value chains, the activities of member cooperatives have increasingly developed. In 2024, members of the Branch supplied the market with about 4 million seedlings, 4,000 tons of preliminary agricultural products and about 60 tons of deeply processed products, including coffee, dried vegetables, dried persimmon and artichoke tea. Total revenue reached about VND 50 billion, of which cooperatives contributed about 5% of revenue for common activities.

Not only limited to the production scale of each cooperative, the Branch also plays an important role in connecting and supporting farmers in the locality. Currently, 16 members are operating 16 cooperatives with more than 100 cooperative members, cultivating about 300 hectares of agricultural land. At the same time, cooperatives also link to provide services and consume products for nearly 1,000 farming households, with a total cultivation area of about 2,000 hectares.

Thanks to the application of high technology and production organization along value chains, the average production value reaches over VND 1 billion/ha/year, contributing to bringing total profits of over VND 2,300 billion per year for more than 1,100 households participating in production linkage.

Spreading the spirit of cooperation and innovation

One of the outstanding features of the Cooperative Farmers’ Branch for Prosperity is the spirit of solidarity, sharing and mutual support in production and business.

Members regularly exchange market information, jointly seek cooperation opportunities, share production experiences and support each other when facing difficulties. When a member signs a new contract with an enterprise, the information is shared so that other members can participate in supplying products. In case a cooperative does not have enough output to meet a contract, members of the Branch are ready to support to ensure progress and prestige with partners.

In particular, the Branch also makes a mark with the pioneering role of female members. Four female members of the Branch have established the Da Lat Green Agriculture Cooperative Alliance, jointly developing production, building store systems and digital spaces to promote products. Members also link with local enterprises to build the model “Da Lat Agro-Street – Specialty Agricultural Product Sales Point” located at the headquarters of the Lam Dong Provincial Farmers’ Union, becoming a place to display and introduce typical OCOP products of the locality.

After more than 4 years of operation, 100% of members of the Branch have been recognized as excellent production and business farmers at provincial and central levels. Among them, 1 individual was honored as “Scientist of Farmers”, 2 individuals achieved the title “Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers”, 3 cooperatives were recognized as typical cooperatives nationwide. Many members have been commended by central ministries, sectors and Lam Dong province for their contributions to agricultural economic development.

Towards sustainable development and model replication

From the achieved results, the Cooperative Farmers’ Branch for Prosperity continues to identify development orientations in the coming time to improve operational efficiency and contribute more positively to local agricultural development.

First of all, the Branch continues to maintain and promote the professional Farmers’ Branch model in accordance with the direction of the Central Union and the Provincial Farmers’ Union, contributing to promoting the development of the collective economy in agriculture. At the same time, the Branch also aims to expand production linkage, support the development of household economy and private economy in agriculture in the spirit of Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW dated May 4, 2025 of the Politburo on private economic development.

In addition, members will continue to research, apply and transfer new technologies in agricultural production, build model production–business models associated with agricultural tourism development, and increase added value for agricultural products. The Branch also sets the goal of expanding the network of linkage with farming households in many localities, thereby contributing to spreading high-tech agricultural production models, increasing farmers’ income and promoting sustainable agricultural development.

It can be affirmed that the Cooperative Farmers’ Branch for Prosperity model is a vivid demonstration of the effectiveness of the policy of building professional Farmers’ Branches and Groups of the Central Vietnam Farmers’ Union. Not only contributing to improving agricultural production efficiency, the model also creates momentum to promote linkage and cooperation, promoting the role of farmers as subjects in developing modern agricultural economy.

With the achieved results, the Cooperative Farmers’ Branch for Prosperity is gradually affirming its role as a nucleus of linkage and innovation in high-tech agriculture, contributing to building a prosperous agriculture, wealthy farmers, and civilized, modern rural areas.
