Lam Dong supports more than 2,000 poor households in developing production and improving livelihoods
During the 2023 - 2025 period, a total of 224,270 farming households across Lam Dong Province were recognized as outstanding production and business households. Of these, 6.861 households received provincial-level recognition, 31.496 district-level recognition, and 185.913 grassroots-level recognition, accounting for approximately 30% of the province’s total agricultural households.
The movement has encouraged and motivated farmers to innovate their thinking and production methods, effectively utilize local potential and internal resources, and promote the spirit of solidarity and cooperation. It has contributed to advancing agricultural production toward commodity-based production and the application of high technology. Through the movement, an increasing number of large-scale production models have developed into farms and enterprises, attracting idle labor and creating stable employment opportunities for members and farmers.
The Farmers’ Union strengthens communication and encourages farmers to cooperate in production and actively participate in the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Programme.
To promote solidarity and mutual support for poor and disadvantaged households facing difficulties in capital, production inputs and farming experience, the Union mobilized nearly VND 57 billion, 40.009 labor days, 4.227 breeding animals, 206,136 seedlings, 7,534 kilograms of food, 8.3 tons of plant protection chemicals, 3 tons of livestock feed, and more than VND 21 billion worth of food products and other goods. These resources supported 2,002 poor households in investing in production development and stabilizing their livelihoods.
Implementing Resolution No. 04 of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union on “Promoting the Development of Professional Farmers’ Branches and Professional Farmers’ Groups,” the province established 100 professional Farmers’ Branches and 363 professional Farmers’ Groups during the 2023 - 2025 period, bringing the total number to 285 professional Farmers’ Branches and 888 professional Farmers’ Groups.
Through practical and relevant activities, these branches and groups have enabled members to proactively exchange experiences and cooperate in production and business activities along value chains. They have strengthened connections between farmers, the Farmers’ Union and enterprises, creating a foundation for the establishment of cooperative groups and cooperatives.
In addition, the Union established various thematic clubs, including clubs on traffic safety, agricultural extension, farmers and the law, farmers and the internet, Farmers’ Scientists Clubs, and Outstanding Farmers’ Production and Business Clubs. These clubs have served as forums for discussing issues specific to different sectors, with practical content related to production and daily life, creating enthusiasm and attracting more farmers to join the Union.
To date, Lam Dong Province has had 11 farmers recognized as Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers by the Central Vietnam Farmers’ Union, 13 individuals honored as Farmers’ Scientists, and five exemplary cooperatives. The province also submitted 22 initiatives to provincial and central-level Farmers’ Technical Innovation Competitions, of which ten initiatives received official recognition and awards.
To support members’ access to capital, the total resources of the provincial Farmers Support Fund have reached VND 200,2 billion, providing loans to 4.587 households for the implementation of 763 projects.
The Union is currently managing 1.847 Savings and Credit Groups under the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, with total outstanding loans of VND 4,924 trillion across 15 preferential lending programs.
Under Government Decree No. 55 on credit policies for agricultural and rural development, outstanding loans provided through the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) and managed through the Union have reached VND 4,437 trillion, benefiting 30.089 members through 1.313 borrowing groups.
Loan programs are directed toward production models aligned with local development orientations, ensuring project feasibility and promoting production linkages with stable market outlets for agricultural products. These efforts help members increase income, improve living standards and move toward greater prosperity.
Every year, the Union coordinates training courses on scientific and technical transfer, providing farmers with updated knowledge on cultivation, animal husbandry and the application of modern technologies in production.
Over the past three years, Farmers’ Union chapters at all levels organized 5.445 technical training courses for 341.712 participants. The Union also coordinated the establishment of demonstration sites and organized workshops on effective production models, enabling farmers to learn and apply successful practices directly in their own production activities.
The Union further coordinated with relevant agencies to organize 514 vocational training courses on cultivation and livestock production techniques for 21.584 members. These activities have helped farmers maximize their internal strengths, effectively utilize land and climate advantages, and make efficient use of investment capital.
The Union has also strengthened cooperation with enterprises to guarantee the supply of high-quality seeds and agricultural inputs through deferred payment schemes without interest, combined with technical transfer, processing, preservation and marketing support for farmers.
To date, the Union has facilitated the supply of 221 agricultural machines valued at VND 21 billion and coordinated with enterprises to provide 10.679 tons of fertilizers worth more than VND 96 billion.
To support agricultural product consumption, the Union has organized training and promotional activities for key provincial products such as dragon fruit, avocado and durian. It has also promoted and developed the “Da Lat - A Miraculous Crystallization from Good Earth” brand for vegetables, flowers, Arabica coffee and agricultural tourism products.
At the same time, the Union has encouraged farmers to cooperate in production, register product trademarks, participate in e-commerce platforms and expand agricultural product sales channels. Every year, it facilitates the participation of enterprises and cooperatives in agricultural trade fairs to introduce and promote the province’s key agricultural products to broader markets.
The Union continues to strengthen communication and encourage farmers to cooperate in production and actively participate in the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Programme.
Currently, Lam Dong has 914 certified OCOP products, including 75 four-star products and 839 three-star products. A total of 522 entities participate in the programme, including 107 cooperatives, 191 enterprises, 208 business establishments, household businesses and farms, and 20 cooperative groups.
Implementing Prime Minister’s Decision No. 182 approving the Project “Farmers’ Union Participation in the Development of the Collective Economy in Agriculture through 2030,” Farmers’ Union chapters at all levels have encouraged members to participate in collective economic models such as production linkage groups, cooperative groups and cooperatives.
The Union has also provided guidance on skills, knowledge and procedures for establishing and operating production linkage models, cooperative groups and cooperatives.
To date, the Union has directly mobilized and supported the establishment of 100 cooperatives and 295 cooperative groups, contributing to increasing the provincial total to 903 agricultural cooperatives and 1.304 cooperative groups.
The province currently has 416 production linkage chains involving 45.615 participating households. Of these, crop production linkages cover 83,885 hectares with an output of 792.744 tons, while livestock production linkages involve 2.262.327 animals with an output of 233,362 tons.
These efforts have helped maximize land-use advantages, improve capital efficiency, promote the adoption of scientific and technological advances, establish commodity production zones linked to markets, and increase farmers’ incomes.
As part of the national movement “The Whole Country Joins Hands in Building New Rural Areas,” the Union directly implemented seven projects worth VND 4,19 billion to support members in developing production and increasing incomes.
These included a production-consumption linkage project for oyster mushroom cultivation in Duc Trong District with total funding of VND 1,27 billion, supporting one enterprise and 15 participating households; an OCOP model worth VND 970 million; a bamboo shoot production model worth VND 180 million; an indigenous pig farming model worth VND 130 million; a mulberry and silkworm production model worth VND 170 million; and a mud-free eel farming model worth VND 180 million.
Implementing Conclusion No. 61 of the Secretariat on the Project “Enhancing the Role and Responsibility of the Farmers’ Union in Agricultural Development, New Rural Development and Building the Farmer Class,” the Union directly deployed 20 production and livestock models valued at VND 3,24 billion.
In 2023, the provincial Farmers’ Union implemented an oyster mushroom cultivation model worth VND 500 million. Grassroots-level Farmers’ Union chapters implemented a fruit orchard model worth VND 50 million, economic development models worth VND 169 million, a model garden initiative worth VND 100 million, and a sustainable agricultural production replication project worth VND 300 million.
In 2024, the provincial Farmers’ Union continued implementing the oyster mushroom cultivation model worth VND 765 million. Grassroots chapters deployed five economic development models worth VND 177 million, a model garden initiative worth VND 100 million, three additional economic development models worth VND 50 million, and three projects with a combined value of VND 750 million.
In the coming period, the Union will continue promoting the emulation movement for outstanding production and business, strengthening solidarity to help members increase prosperity and reduce poverty sustainably. It will mobilize maximum resources to support members in economic development, income generation and improved living standards.
At the same time, the Union will encourage members and farmers to apply Industry 4.0 technologies in agricultural production and continue supporting the development of production linkages, value-chain cooperation models, cooperative groups and cooperatives.
