On implementing VNFU’s 2024 plan for external affairs, on acceptance of invitation from Prins Land, Water, Food Consulting Company Limited in the Netherlands, Vietnam Farmers’ Union assigned a delegation consisting 6 members led by Mrs. Bui Thi Thom, Vice-chairwoman of Executive Committee of Vietnam Farmers’ Union to pay a work visit to the Netherlands from 8th to 15th June 2024.
The VNFU’s delegation to the Netherlands aimed to research, study, and exchange experiences on agricultural production, especially on growing, importing and exporting fruits, soil testing...
During the trip, the delegation visited and worked with research centers and Dutch companies specializing in providing solutions to improve the quality of fruit production, including solutions for land and water; learn about the agricultural logistics industry, importers' requirements and opportunities to expand fruit export markets; share experiences in responding to climate change and applying technology in agricultural production. Partners whom the delegation met and worked with can be mentioned as Hoeve Ackerdijk Multi-Purpose Farm in Delft, LBP Logistics International Transport Service Company, Wageningen University Experimental Center and RMA Company, Wageningen Agricultural Eurofins Center Netherlands. Besides, they also attended the 2024 Green Tech Technology Exhibition held in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Vice Chairwoman of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union Bui Thi Thom said: In recent years, the Party, State and Government of Vietnam have issued many guidelines and policies to encourage farmers to apply technology in agricultural production. In fact, many Vietnamese farmers have now applied in practice, bringing great value. Beside the positive results achieved, the awareness of Vietnamese farmers about the application of technology is not high, the investment in equipment and model systems for applying high-tech agriculture still limits.
With an organizational structure from the central to the grassroots, representing more than 10 million members and farmers, Vietnam Farmers’ Union always focuses on propagating and mobilizing farmers to apply new science and technology to production.
To make propaganda more effective and help farmers apply new technology, Vietnam Farmers’ Union will continue to coordinate with all levels and sectors to effectively advise and support farmers. Within the framework of Vietnamese Tropical Fruit Quality Improvement Project, Vietnam Farmers’ Union will continuously collaborate with related industries, sectors, companies, businesses... to actively organize propaganda and training activities."
The Vietnamese Tropical Fruit Quality Improvement Project which the Medical Committee Netherlands - Vietnam (MCNV) sponsored for Vietnam Farmers' Union, is implemented in 4 provinces including Binh Thuan, Long An, Ben Tre, and Dong Thap in the period 2022 - 2024, aiming to improve the position of farmers producing dragon fruit, mango, and grapefruit in some provinces in Vietnam based on the application of creative and sustainable measures, practices and technologies, targeting high-end domestic and international export markets.
