Vietnam Farmers’ Union (VNFU) held a talk and jointly signed an Appendix to the Memorandum of Understanding with the Cuban National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP)

(VNFU Portal) – In the morning of October 29, in Hanoi, within the framework of the working visit of the delegation of Cuban Small Farmers' Association to Vietnam, VNFU and ANAP held talks between the leaders of the two organizations and signed an addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation for the period 2025 - 2030 to promote cooperation between the two organizations as well as farmers of the two countries.

Attending the meeting were Comrade Luong Quoc Doan, Member of CPV Central Committee, Secretary of the Designated Representation, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union (VNFU) and Comrade Félix Duarte Ortega, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Chairman of the Association of Cuban Small Farmers' (ANAP).
At the meeting, VNFU Chairman Luong Quoc Doan said: The special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, founded by President Ho Chi Minh and President Fidel Castro, has been cultivated by generations of Cuban and Vietnamese leaders and has been increasingly consolidated and developed in all fields. The two sides have built a close friendship and extensive cooperation between the two Parties, Governments, National Assemblies and at all levels from central to local, between unions and socio-political organizations.
In particular, during the State visit to Cuba by General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam at the invitation of First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez, the two leaders “affirmed their determination to bring the special relationship between the two countries to a new level, developing more comprehensively, substantially, effectively and sustainably; further strengthening the close relationship and mutual trust between the Parties, States and peoples of the two countries, actively contributing to the cause of protecting and building socialism in each country, for peace, stability, cooperation and development”. In particular, the two countries agreed to increase exchanges between socio-political organizations.
“As a socio-political organization of the peasant led by the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnam Farmers' Union is honored and delighted to join hands to further foster the close and lasting relationship between the two countries through people-to-people diplomacy activities with the Association of Cuban Small Farmers',” Comrade Luong Quoc Doan emphasized.
Within the trip agenda to Vietnam, the Vietnam Farmers' Union and the Association of Cuban Small Farmers' exchanged information and discussed to concretize and deepen the cooperation between the two organizations; at the same time, VNFU arranged for the delegation to work with the Central Economic Committee as well as visit and study agricultural and rural economic development models in a number of provinces and cities.
Feeling extremely moved by the warm, sincere welcome of VNFU and some provinces and cities during the trip, Mr. Félix Duarte Ortega - President of the Cuban Small Farmers' Association affirmed that the relationship between Vietnam and Cuba is a special relationship, built and nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and President Filden Catro, and now continues to be developed by the two countries to new levels.
On behalf of the Party, State and people of Cuba, Mr. Félix Duarte Ortega appreciated the Party, State and people of Vietnam and thanked Hai Phong City for always taking care of and supporting Cuban people both materially and spiritually over the past time.
The ANAP’s chairman said that at the meeting between General Secretary and President To Lam and First Secretary and President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, both leaders supported relevant agencies of the two sides to strengthen coordination in researching agricultural production cooperation models to support Cuba in increasing output and local production capacity, developing the agricultural sector, and ensuring food security.
Therefore, Mr. Félix Duarte Ortega also believes that this visit will further strengthen the cooperative and friendly relationship between two farmers’ organizations of two countries and between the Association of Cuban Small Farmers and some provinces and cities of Vietnam, thereby contributing to promoting cooperation and agricultural development in general, and rice production in particular.

At the meeting, the two Chairmans of VNFU and ANAP visited the agricultural products exhibition area. Comrade Luong Quoc Doan, member of CPV Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Delegation, VNFU’s Chairman introduced to Comrade Félix Duarte Ortega, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, ANAP’s Chairman Vietnamese specialty products that meet OCOP standards and have been exported to many countries around the world.
On the same day, Comrade Félix Duarte Ortega, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, ANAP’s Chairman and VNFU’S leaders visited and worked with Today Rural Newspaper/Dan Viet Electronic Newspaper. This is an opportunity for the two sides to share and exchange on agricultural journalism activities, thereby strengthening the friendship between the two countries.
VNFU and ANAP agreed to sign the Appendix to the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation, including the following additional articles:
Article 6: The two parties conduct research on common areas of cooperation in each stage, in order to develop the relationship between VNFU and ANAP, based on the actual conditions of each organization.
Article 7: The two parties enhance the exchange of experiences in developing household economy and fields related to agriculture, farmers, and rural areas in accordance with the interests of the peasant class of the two countries.
Article 8: The two sides promote cooperation and friendship between all levels of Farmers' Unions, contributing to political trust between the two countries and the socio-economic development of each country.
