VNFU Vice – Chairman Nguyen Xuan Dinh met and offered Tet wishes to VNFU retired officials in the South

At the meeting with VNFU retired officials in the South on the occasion of Tan Suu Lunar New Year 2021 on January 28 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Farmers’ Union (VNFU) Nguyen Xuan Dinh showed his expectation on the retired officials to contribute to the development of FUs.

In addition to the retired officials, there were FU leaders of 9 provinces and cities in the Emulation Cluster 6.
 
An overview of the meeting

 
Sharing at the meeting, VNFU Vice - Chairman Nguyen Xuan Dinh wished that the retired officials of VNFU in the South continue to closely monitor the FU works and farmers’ movements to give ideas for a more developed VNFU in the future.
 
Also at this meeting on the occasion of Tan Suu spring, VNFU Vice - Chairman Nguyen Xuan Dinh had a brief of VNFU works and the farmers’ movements in 2020.
 
According to him, 2020 was a difficult year for VNFU works and the farmers’ movements due to the serious effects of COVID-19 pandemic, storms, floods, drought and salinization, etc.
 
However, with the great efforts and determination of FUs at all level, farmer members have been supported to stabilize their lives and develop agriculture and rural areas as well.
 
In 2020, farmers made a positive contribution to help the country's economy overcome difficulties at the growth rate of 2.91%.
 
Regarding VNFU works and the farmers’ movements, 279,000 new members were admitted; 1,191 new profession FU branches and more than 9,200 profession FU groups were established.
 
Moreover, VNFU Standing Committee strengthened their direction on FUs at provinces and cities to continue to develop and improve the efficiency of the Supporting Fund for Farmers.
 
There was a growth of more than 376 billion VNFU of the fund at all levels in the year, bringing the total capital of the Supporting Fund for Farmers in the whole FU system to more than 3,742 billion VND.
 
Former VNFU Vice - Chairwoman Nguyen Hong Ly affirmed that the achievements were so amazing and impressive to FUs at all level, farmer members.

"In the future, FUs at all level should promote that achievements, make more efforts and be more creative to deserve to be a trustworthy organization of farmers, contributing to promoting the development of agriculture, rural areas and farmers in the new era" emphasized Mrs. Nguyen Hong Ly.

On the sidelines of the year-end meeting, the retired officials of VNFU in the South agreed to establish the Southern Central VNFU Retirement Official Liaison Committee.

According to Mrs. Nguyen Hong Ly, the establishment of the Liaison Committee aimed to encourage, share and support retired members of VNFU in the South.

Besides, it would take advantages of the experiences of the retired officials to contribute to the development of VNFU works and the farmers’ movements.

Currently, there are about 20 retired officials of VNFU in the South.
