Final Selection of 63 Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers and 32 Distinguished Scientists of Farmers for 2025 Announced
Vice President Bui Thi Thom reaffirmed that the members of the final selection Committee are highly respected individuals, representing the leadership of various central ministries, agencies, and organisations. Over the past weeks, these Committee members have shown great dedication, professionalism, and responsibility in carrying out their independent evaluations.
Based on these efforts, the Committee convened for its final meeting to agree upon the shortlist of awardees, which will now be submitted to the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union for official approval.
During the meeting, the Committee discussed and agreed on the selection procedures, in line with Plan No. 189-KH/HNDTW issued on 3 April 2025 regarding the organisation of the Pride of Vietnamese Farmers 2025 programme. According to the agreed rules, one Outstanding Farmer was selected from each province or city (based on the previous administrative divisions).
As for the Farmer Scientist category, the Committee evaluated each candidate based on the practical value and impact of their scientific work—particularly studies that have already been applied in real-life agricultural settings, received certification, or been nominated by ministries and professional bodies. Academic qualifications and professional titles were also taken into account.

Outstanding Financial Performance Among Nominees
Notably, over 20 nominated farmers reported annual profits of 5 billion VND or more. The remaining nominees had profits ranging from 500 million to 4.5 billion VND per year. Aquaculture—especially shrimp farming—emerged as the highest-earning sector, followed by fruit cultivation and livestock farming.
“For this year’s Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer nominees, we’ve seen a significant scaling-up in production, as well as impressive growth in both revenue and income,” said Ms. Bui Thi Thom. “Many of the participating models are now integrated with value chains and eco-tourism, delivering multi-value outputs. This reflects the spirit of the Politburo’s Resolution 57, which promotes digital transformation and scientific innovation to boost rural incomes and drive sustainable economic development.”
Scientists of Farmers: From Scholars to Hands-on Innovators
Commenting on the Farmer Scientist programme, Vice President Thom highlighted the wide-ranging achievements of this year’s nominees—spanning from academics and managers to hands-on farmers. Their contributions include highly practical research projects, scientific studies, and innovations that have helped farmers improve productivity, enhance product quality, and increase long-term incomes.
